It's Sunday, so you know what that means: Time to link up for my Week Behind, Week Ahead linkup! This was a weird week, thanks to Snowzilla (eye roll). I work for our local government, which means I didn't spend my snow days like most other people I know. I'm not going to bore you with my Leslie Knope -like stories, so I'll just use this guy to summarize my thoughts: :-| Fortunately, I was able to get some fun and fitness in with my family, as I mentioned in last week's linkup , as well as another bonus day of yoga which prevented me from pulling all of my hair out over the course of the week. Hooray, yoga! Now, on to this week's Week Behind, Week Ahead post! ...
Greetings from the tail end of our blizzard! Once again, I am hosting my Week Behind, Week Ahead Linkup (#WBWAlinkup). As a reminder, this linkup is to let you know all about the past week's activities, as well as plans and goals for the upcoming week. Want to join the linkup? Be sure to add your blog post link using the InLinkz tool below, that way I can read your posts to learn all about your  week! Make sure you comment on at least two posts in the linkup so that we can all share the love! Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get on with this week's Week Behind, Week Ahead, Post! (Note that I've updated this week's format by adding an optional button, if you want to include the linkup image in your post!) ...
Happy Sunday! You know, Sunday is a weird day of the week. Some people consider Sunday the end of the week, and some people consider it the beginning. I'm a little bit of both, I suppose. I like to use Sunday as a day of reflection. What have I accomplished in the week behind? What are my goals for the week ahead? With that thought in mind, I decided to start a little Sunday linkup here on Flecks of Lex. It is here that I will discuss the passing week, and the week up ahead. It is my intention that this Week Behind, Week Ahead linkup serves as sort of a report card since last Sunday, but also a way to hold myself accountable on what I do during the week coming up. If I don't follow through with my goals for the week ahead, I'm going to have to tell on myself next week! So, let's get to it, shall we? ...
After my volleyball tournament over the weekend, I realized that I have developed a pretty sweet post-tournament recovery regimen for myself. The night immediately following my tournament was not met with agony, heavy eyelids, or crawling from my bed to the bathroom -- unlike previous tournaments. Instead of regretting playing volleyball all day, I had a lovely date night in DC with my boyfriend. It was great! Please enjoy this infographic I have put together for those who are interested in learning more about my little recovery routine. While it is my post volleyball tournament routine, it doesn't mean that it is explicitly for volleyball players. In fact, this route is pretty much the exact same thing I did after running my first half marathon less than two months ago. I must note that, while I have nearly a decade of coaching experience (including my IMPACT certification), I am not a doctor . You should totally make sure that you consult with your doctor on any over-the-...
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been testing out Simply Earth Peppermint Essential Oil . Prior to receiving this product for free from Simply Earth, I'd had very little experience with essential oils. Pretty much the only time I can recall using an essential oil was with my tea light candle oil diffuser (which I love!). It used to be that when I would think of essential oils, I would think of Will Ferrell's ridiculous character from The Ladies Man . He was a Greco Roman wrestler who liked to oil himself up. It was really over the top, like most Will Ferrell characters. I loved it (though I can admit that it was not an excellent move). Can you believe that movie came out in 2000?? Man, I'm getting old. Anyway, despite Will Ferrell ridiculously rubbing oil all over his body, I can now say that I love the versatility of essential oils, and that I'm now officially a fan! ...
Hey, you! Happy New Year! This is my first post for 2016, so I thought I'd have a little fun with it. (This is going to be a long one, so pull up a chair!) I also figured it was about time I said something about my Wipeout Run race, since it's only been, oh, 6 MONTHS since I ran it. Welp. Better late than never, right? Now, if you followed Flecks of Lex throughout 2015, you noticed that, out of the dozen races I ran, only a few of my races were 5k. The reason, of course, is that I've become a race snob   they always sell out before I can register  I prefer to run longer distances, and I feel that the longer races are actually more value for your buck. $50 for 30+ minutes of running and a cotton t-shirt? No, thank you! What does  convince me to run 5k from time to time, however, is the fun factor. If I know that I can get some of my family members together, or a group of friends, and that we can do something where we all look silly and can have a good laugh, I am down!...
