Amazing.
That's the word I would use to describe the Oofos Ooriginal Sport Sandals I tested out. You guys know I'm a skeptic, so when I heard that these sandals were good for recovery, I threw some major side eye at 'em. When I received them, I thought, at the very least, I got some new flip flops! Man, did I underestimate these sandals! Holy cow!
The first pair I received were just a little too snug, so I sized up. I recommend ordering the same size in these shoes that you would wear in running shoes, but round up since they don't carry half sizes.
It definitely took me a little bit of walking around to get a hang of the the feel of these sandals. You can tell as soon as you put them on that there is arch support and that you can't walk in them like you would your run-of-the-mill flip flops. I could feel more relief in my hips immediately, and felt like I could walk more naturally in them. The straps took a little adjusting to as well, since they were a little squishier than I expected. Don't take this to mean they were uncomfortable. Quite the contrary! These sandals made me realize how little support I have in my other sandals!
To test out these sandals, I wore them after intense workouts, including volleyball doubleheaders and long runs. Without question, they helped relieve pressure from my lower body (especially my hips, as I mentioned), and my lower back certainly appreciated it. I think that they helped with recovery so much because they didn't allow me to stand awkwardly like I normally might when I'm especially fatigued.
These sandals come in a few different colors, including their limited edition version in honor of the Rio Olympics. The sandals are a bit pricey, so be prepared when you check them out! Nevertheless, they're totally worth it! Think of them as another pair of athletic shoes or compression socks. They're definitely not some cheap flip flops you'd throw out at the end of the summer!
I recommend giving the Oofos Ooriginal Sport Sandal a try. They're cute, comfy, and great for recovery. I'm definitely an Oofos convert now! (Plus, I'm eyeballing these now... 👀)
