Why I’m Doing a 10-Minute TRX Challenge This Month

TRX workout challenge

Last week, my friend Tikima (of Tikima Renee Fitness) and I decided that we were going to do a TRX workout for at least 10 minutes every day of December. Yeah, we said that. And yeah, we’re doing that!

What is TRX?

The TRX Suspension Trainer is unique! It has an anchor point and straps, and the level of difficulty of each exercise is determined by your angle from the anchor point. It creates instability, which creates core activation, resistance training by the use of your body weight, and helps you work on your balance as well. The TRX brand has a number of products, but the suspension trainer is the most popular product in the line.

What Are You Hoping to Learn?

We are both certified TRX Trainers, and it’s been months (it feels like at least a year, to be honest) since we’ve initially gotten our TRX certification. Unfortunately, we can’t really teach it to anybody right now because of the pandemic; you can’t really sanitize the straps the way you might other pieces of fitness equipment since the straps are mostly made from fabric rather than metal or plastic. There aren’t any classes in my gym at the moment, and I also don’t really know anyone I could teach!

I’m hoping to get a stronger core, memorize more of the standard TRX exercises, design TRX workouts, and incorporate more resistance training into my workout routine.

How Does the TRX Challenge Work?

To keep our minds fresh, here’s what we’re doing:

  • Complete a minimum of 10-minutes of TRX exercises every day during the month of December.
  • Share our workout on social media.
  • Challenge each other to different moves and/or workouts throughout the challenge.

Have You Learned Anything So Far?

Yes! My core is so weak right now. Yikes!
There are so many TRX workout videos out there! For example, I found this great video from PopSugar that incorporates yoga poses into the TRX suspension straps.
I’ve also learned that I really need to refresh my memory on all of the different strap lengths because I could not remember how to find the different lengths! Here’s a video from the official TRX YouTube Channel in case you’re curious:

Which TRX Moves Have You Tried So Far?

I’ve had tried so many different TRX moves, including flexibility moves, resistance training exercises, and even yoga poses! I’m trying to incorporate at least one different move into my workout each day just to keep things fresh! Keep scrolling down to see some of the TRX workouts I’ve done during this challenge.

Do You Do the Same Thing Every Day?

I haven’t done the same set of TRX moves every day, but I suspect that I may duplicate some workouts later in the month when I’m feeling a bit less creative.

Here are the workouts I’ve done so far (you can keep track by following my TRX Challenge Instagram highlight):

What’s Next?

I’m going to keep working through these moves and track my progress. By the end of this challenge, I will update you all on how it went for me!

Where Can I Buy TRX straps?

When I bought my TRX system, it was sold out almost everywhere! Fortunately, a local fitness equipment shop had received a very small shipment (only 6 sets!) when I called them. I hurried up and purchased it right away, and they were actually sold out before the end of the day!
Right now, you can find some sets on Amazon at a discounted rate (like this one and this one – affiliate links). This is the cheapest I was able to find these sets that include both indoor and outdoor anchors, as well as door hinge anchors so that you can use it in case you don’t want to or can’t permanently install the anchor at your home or in a gym.

But… I Need More Info…

You can always contact me if you have any questions! I’m here to help!
